ZENITH AVENUE: PHASE 2
Phase 2 included the area now surrounding the newly poured concrete patio. To create a contrast with the modern form and feel of the patio, the planting scheme takes denser, more rustic approach than that of the front yards. The clients wanted - somewhat tongue-in-cheek - a "country French" look to the planting, and thus we went with what we call a "Prairie-meets-Provence" aesthetic (again, somewhat tonge-in-cheek), complete with cold-hardy Lavendars, columnar Oaks that recall the Italian Cypress, and blue- and grey-hued grasses. To offset the wilder nature of the planting, we added a very petit mini-lawn to create a clean swath of green.
