Does low-water mean scrubby?
With the right plant materials and planting techniques, not at all. There is a vast, untapped world of plants out there that have evolved over time to survive periods of little to no rainfall. A surprising number of these plants call the prairie home, while many others come from Mediterranean-climate regions of the world, while others are tried-but-true cultivars that can survive on surprisingly little water. We draw from all of these groups of plants to produce combinations of form, color, and texture that are visually striking and that are just as full and lush as many a water-thirsty landscape of turf grass and a few errant shrubs.
